THE STORY: Born and raised in Spanish Harlem in the heart of New York City, Aja Pearl had a gift of creativity. At the age of eleven, she developed an eye for fashion, while watching an MTV sitcom called “House of Style”. In the beginning, it was a rough start. She knew, at a young age, that in order to create a design, the design had to be innovative. She began to create bracelets out of wire, cloth flower petals, and the colorful ball from her old hair ties. Some thought her jewelry was innovative, others could not understand her creativity and genius. For years, Aja Pearl studied fashion and style through television and magazines until she was able to develop a style of her own. As an adult, her inspiration for her pieces has been from the Sultry Sound of Soul Music and the Majestic Melody of Bhangra.
